Movement Therapist Dilshad Patel has been studying, applying and innovating therapeutic movement, with a vision to enhance physical and psychological wellbeing for over a decade. Trained at the Harkness Center, New York, Dilshad has worked with people from varied backgrounds including street children, athletes, corporations and prisoners.
Dilshad spearheads Movement Therapy for Sports (MTS™), the first-ever program of its kind to optimize performance for elite sports professionals the world over.
She implemented the MTS™ program for the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals, during IPL Seasons 3 and 5, and for the Canadian Cricket Team during the Cricket World Cup, 2011.
Dilshad represented India at the 47th American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) International Conference in 2012, where she presented her ground breaking work for sports professionals and pioneering research in the medical context in India.
Recently, Dilshad delivered the keynote address and presented her work on the MTS™ and MFH™ programs at the Health 2.0 Conference held in Bangalore in February, 2014.
Dilshad has taken Movement Therapy to the medical realm, conducting pioneering research through her program, Movement For Healthcare (MFH™). Beneficiaries are lung patients at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, under the guidance of Dr. Farokh Udwadia. She has also worked with heart patients at the Asian Heart Institute and has conducted several seminars on Movement Therapy for hundreds of Parkinsons patients at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital.
“Ms. Patel has done outstanding work, and has fulfilled both the experiential and research requirements with great skill. Her intellectual ability is excellent, and her movement skills are outstanding. She shows great empathy in her interactions with others, and has a deep source of creativity.
She has a unique talent for organization and for energetic focus on specific goals. I would highly recommend that she be assisted as much as possible with both financial and professional support, so that her work can expand. She has the potential to help many types of people through her efforts, and I certainly look forward to the fulfillment of this potential. It is clear that I recommend Ms. Patel with great enthusiasm; I truly believe in her talents and her vision.”
